The upgradation, which is expected to complete in two years, will cost between $261 million and $297 million.

Works as part of the renovation include installation of three escalators to reach the upper level, new video and ribbon boards, improvement of sound system, as well as upgrades to technology like WiFi, DAS and an IPTV distribution system.

Overall stadium infrastructure will also be improved as part of renovation which will include upgrading the HVAC system, the playing field, concrete and seats. Other potential upgrades include addition of a roof terrace, a team history area, field club, improvement of the entrance ways to allow easier access to the stadium, and an indoor practice facility. The stadium can accommodate upto 74,000 fans.

The team is seeking more than $60 million in state funds, while Charlotte’s City Council has agreed to provide nearly $144 million from a food and beverage tax increase.
