The 6,500 square feet single family residence is erected on the foundation of an earlier one-story modern wood house, designed by the architect 35 years ago. The new owners, needing a larger house, decided to continue on the vernacular of this modern, pond front property.
The renovated aluminum glass house uses materials like limestone, steel, aluminum, and glass. It features two stories with a connected studio/garage. The main entrance has been designed as a two story skylight space, featuring a double staircase to the second floor.
The house features the living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, library, and two guest bedrooms with baths on the first floor, with all the rooms opening to walkways and terraces at both the first and second floors.
The second floor features the master bedroom, sitting room, vanity areas, and a large bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub. An exercise room, massage room, and a skylit solarium are located at the top of the double staircase.
The house features a limestone floor, which has been carpeted, while the plaster walls display the owner’s art collection. A glass walled and thatched roof corridor leads to the studio and garage.
