Designed by Irish design practice BOX Architects, Vetro with its striking glass facade is expected to bring an addition to the architectural landscape of the city center’s western gateway in the King St/Castle St area.
The 100 meters tall Vetro, with 144 serviced apartments as well as leisure and conference facilities, is expected to become the tallest building in Belfast.
The majority of the facades are made up of hidden frame unitized curtain walling set out in a random pattern of colored, translucent and clear glass, lending the building a sheer sheen. The clear glass cladding given to the lower floors offer a transparent frontage to the street, with full height glazed random cladding of vertical strips in the upper levels.
The facility is custom-planned and designed specifically for an international hotelier. Vetro will feature 170 hotel bedrooms with bar, restaurant, leisure and business suites.
The building can be completed within two years, if planning approval is granted.
