Danish firm, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), has teamed up with Paris-based design agency, Silvio d’Ascia Architecture, to design a loop-shaped station for a new stretch of the Paris Metro.
Silvio d’Ascia and BIG have been chosen to design one of the 10 news stations of the Société du Grand París’ Grand Paris Express project. The two firms will join forces to design Pont-de-Bondy Metro station, located on the borders of Bondy, Noisy-le-Sec and Bobigny.
The new metro line will extend Paris’ metro system far outside the city with a primary aim to modernise the existing transport system. The master plan includes an additional 200 kilometres of rail lines providing ease for commuters and further economic growth for the city.

Philippe Yvin, CEO of the Société du Grand Paris said: "The new subway will contribute to the construction of metropolitan heritage of the 21st century."
The master plan includes a ring route around Paris (Line 15) and three lines (16, 17 and 18) connecting neighbourhoods. While 68 stations will be designed and constructed, nine of those stations have been singled out as ‘emlematic’, key stations that will be designed by different architecture firms and 37 architects in total. Dominique Perrault, Jean-Marie Duthilleul and Kengo Kuma are amongst the lucky firms involved.

''Significant urban projects will emerge along this transport route: new neighbourhoods with an array of features including housing, economic activities, university centres and cultural facilities – especially around the strategic, structural points provided by the stations,'' said the Société du Grand Paris.
The future line is expected to take on board up to two million passengers every day with its completion planned for 2030.
