Building Additions’ Fabric folding partitions with a special bio-pruf coating have just been successfully installed at Harefield Hospital as part of a national government initiative to improve patient privacy and dignity in hospitals.

In consultation with ward staff and Infection Control, four curved Fabric partitions were specified in place of ward curtains on the hospital’s Medical Care Unit. Senior estates officer, Amjid Baig, comments,” Building Additions was extremely helpful and offered a special fabric covering for the application which is able to withstand the strong chlorine based chemical used regularly for cleaning.”

The partition fabric, developed in conjunction with Muraspec, is durable, light fast, flame retardant and has a scrubbable, wipe clean surface. A special bio-pruf coating stops the growth of the food that bacteria feed on thus inhibiting bacteria growth on the fabric which is essential for such applications.

The partitions provide privacy when closed and even come in sound proofing ratings for added sound reduction. They glide smoothly and silently on a top hung track and fold back to take up no space at all.

Mr Baig adds, “We have had very positive feedback about the partitions and they have received approval from the Patient Environment Action Team which recently undertook an inspection. We are very impressed with the quality of the partitions and the work of the company and envisage using them in other parts of the hospital.”
