The project calls for revamping the turf and laying a new track to replace the old track. Further, the project will also replace the concession stand facility and press box located at the north side of the bowl with a three-storey structure. The three-storey building would include a large press box, administrative boxes, coach boxes and suites. The building will also have renovated bathrooms and concession areas. The project will also encompass upgradation of the storage facilities. The bowl as a part of the project, will also get new locker rooms, training rooms and scoreboards.
The bowl renovation steering committee anticipates the total expenses to be about $8 million. The committee, together with the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce, anticipates raising $5 million in private funds, which includes a $2 million grant from MDU Resources for the naming rights of the stadium. The committee aims to raise the remaining $3 million from the users of the facility. The stadium, after the completion of renovation work, will be called MDU Resources Community Bowl.
The chamber intends to commence the renovation of the bowl in 2012 and anticipates completing it towards the end of 2012, subject to sourcing of funds. The construction work of the bowl will be overseen by Bismarck Public Schools and the chamber would function as a fiduciary agent.
