The new centre, in Burton on Trent, incorporates 30,000m2 of Brett Martin Daylight Systems’ Trilite GRP, used to form triple skin site assembled rooflights which account for 15% of the total roof area.
Roofing contractor Roofdec used the Trilite as an integral part of the CA Group’s Twintherm™ roofing system that was specified for the rooflight element of the project.
The combination achieves both Class B non-fragility and the 2.2W/m2K required by the latest Document L2 Building Regulations, whilst still ensuring that acceptable levels of diffused natural daylight penetrate the building. Its Class 1 fire rating also meets the spread of fire requirements.
Designed by Peter Hing and Jones and built by Norwest Holst, the centre gives Argos, which was voted retailer of the year 2003, a major central location for the distribution of its products.
