The skyscraper “One One One Eagle Street” is located in the heart of Brisbane at an exclusive location in the central business district. Designed by Cox Rayner Architects, it features organic design and was produced for the GPT Group.

One One One Eagle Street has a steel construction, which is visible from the outside and is based on the interwoven appearance of a fig tree trunk. Brisbane is home to large-leaved fig trees which provide pleasant shade in the city centre with their overhanging branches. This inspired the architects to create a fig tree interwoven steel construction. At night, 52,000 veins of LEDs mounted on the steelwork illuminate the building which bathe the glass façade in a pulsating light that gives the impression of leaves moving in the crown of a fig tree.

The building not only stands out for its nature-inspired design but also sustainability. A notable element of the skyscaper is its highly transparent structural glazing façade. It features 30,000 square metres of ipasol neutral solar control glass from Interpane, which makes a major contribution to the good CO2 balance. The glass allows maximum infiltration of daylight to enter the building but reduces overheating of the offices by the intensive solar irradiation that is present throughout the year. This helps in redcing the air conditioning costs and protect the environment.

The latest gas-powered generator technology reduces peak loads from the electricity grid while LED lighting keeps the consumption low. A special recycling system reduces waste. All the 3.1 metre high fully glazed floors are supplied with plenty of light because the daylight transmittance (TV) of the glazing is relatively high. This provides a pleasant working atmosphere.

Spread over 1,400 square metres, the building offers 64,145 square metres of office space on the ground area. Stylish restaurants and bars are also featured. The multi-storey lobby of the building is flooded with natural light due to the room-high glazing and appears filigreed and transparent. A four-storey car park for 115 cars and 212 bicycles is located above the lobby.Visitors and office workers can reach this level using conventional lifts in the interior of the building. A fully glazed lift is featured on the seventh floor that transports passengers up and down the building façade at a speed of eight metres per second right up to the 54th floor.

The building has already been awarded a six-star Green Star Award by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) for its exceptional sustainability.
