The 3000 square feet wood frame facility, designed by Fairhaven based architectural firm Stephen Kelleher Architects, aims to provide visitors with enhanced amenities. Stephen L. Kelleher, principal architect and owner of Stephen Kelleher Architects, was told media sources that the building will house administration offices, lifeguard quarters, a first aid and comfort station.
It will become the flagship facility of the central plaza. Kelleher also stated that the building is designed in the historic New England shingle style.
The construction contract was won by New Bedford based Bufftree Building Co. Scott Costa, the co-owner of Bufftree, stated in media reports that construction is underway and is expected to reach completion in June 2009.
