The company’s winning proposal tries to create a play which pays respect to the landscape values that characterises Sykkylven. The outline plan reveals a striking structure, which will prominently stand out on the backdrop of the open landscape and the high mountains of Sykkylvsfjorden.
The play attempts at reinforcing the urban block structure of the city through a vacant land, and extending the centre by adding a new waterfront. This will prevent the green spaces to remain untouched by the construction of the Sykkylven center.
The plans include transforming an existing derelict freight terminal, along the fjord, into a youth activity center which will further enhance the waterfront. The winning proposal is in-line with the long-term conceptual framework of the city planners for the city. The proposal is carried out in association with Dronninga landscape, Zenisk and Vista Analyse.
