The project involves renovation of the existing 100,000 square feet of the 1957-built Storm and Nasatir building complex. The company will also add a 30,000 square feet extension to the building. The project has been designed by LPA Incorporation.

Scope of work involves construction of new classrooms and upgrades to the existing classroom with new technologies, construction of new academic and research laboratories, and faculty offices for the College of Arts and Letters.

The new annexure will provide new space for the campus’ Language Acquisition Resources Centre. The building will accommodate eight academic departments, including anthropology, geography and foreign languages, among others.

All the buildings will be built to meet current health and safety code standards. The facility will incorporate several features, which will bring about a saving of water and energy, and will be low- maintenance.

The other sustainable features will comprise energy-efficient HVAC systems, new lighting and ceiling systems. The building’s technology and electrical system, such as fire alarm and security systems, will be also be upgraded.

The project is being aspired for LEED Gold certification. Construction on the project is expected to finish by January 2015.
