Sacramento’s twin 18-story towers built between 1966 and 1969, spanning the entire city block between 7th and 8th, and P and Q streets, will receive a $183 million makeover, reports Biz Journals quoting information from the office of California state treasurer Bill Lockyer.

The 625,000 square feet facility will get equipped with fire safety systems as part of the renovation. The building exterior will be refurbished and new energy-efficient features will be added.

The buildings, known as State Office Buildings 8 and 9, house the Department of Social Services.
