Designed by David Foster, the new house will incorporate a modular prefabricated structure by Seattle’s Method Homes. Use of modular elements will facilitate a shorter construction deadline of about two months apart from slashing material debris to less than 5%. The modular materials will also help in creating a closed environment preventing it from adverse conditions such as rainfall.
The new home will sport a contemporary look with an open-plan concept allowing optimum passage of natural light. It will abide by several other LEED principles including installation of a green roof and a hydronic in-floor heating system. Water for the complex will be heated using solar heat systems while its PV will be solar ready.
Other sustainable features of the home include use of zero and low VOC finishes and high-performance windows and other appliances that require low maintenance. In addition, the house will be equipped with advanced systems which will help improve the quality of its indoor air.
