The Truncheons is a series of lamps consisting of a suspension, an articulated task lamp, and a freestanding tube lamp that can be rested against a wall. The wooden fixture is custom CNC milled, offering a delicate scallop-edged ring effect on the surface. The skilfully carved surface offsets the substantial presence of the solid wood form.
The Truncheon range of lamps is devoid of unnecessary knobs or switches. The lamps resemble a simple compact stick form fashioned out of traditional materials and shaped by advanced digital technology. Energy-saving LED bulbs have also been incorporated into the end design. The cool light of the bulb is warmed by the wooden enclosure.
The body of the Truncheon lamp is clad in a delicate, metered scallop. This creates a cross-grain scalloping, offering a soft interplay with the more linear wood grain of the maple and walnut.
The Truncheon task lamp is placed on a poured, weighted base of gypsum and marble. The heavy base allows the arm of the lamp to make a soft rotation.
