To be located at the southern end of the College’s main Ipswich Road campus on the site of the former West Lodge accommodation block, the new creative arts building will consist of three purpose-built floors.

The new building will be dedicated to different areas of the creative, performing and digital arts. The ground floor of the building will house performing arts rehearsal spaces, while the first floor will offer space for digital arts training and will feature a TV studio and music recording studios, interactive media, graphics, animation and media editing suites. The upper most level will be home for traditional art and design, fashion and textiles and cultural heritage/craft-based programmes.

The building will also have a low-carbon trail and will include several green features, such as natural and mechanical ventilation systems, ground source heating, brown water recycling and solar panels. The scheme is being aspired for BREEAM Excellent rating.

The estimated cost of development is £5.7 million ($9.16 million). The project is scheduled for completion in September 2013.
