The design will reflect the Academy’s specialism in digital technology and computing, and vocational education. Central to the new school is a two-storey, 950 square metre open heart space, which will render light and airy environment to the entire campus that will foster social interaction and increase motivation.

The ground floor of the building will accommodate School of Transition, specifically designed for pupils in Years 7 and 8, and the World of Work which will comprise the design technology and science departments. The first floor will accommodate an art barn and associated outdoor terrace that will offer views of surrounding Gloucestershire countryside.

The project will be developed with highest regards to sustainability and will comprise a dynamic landscape, which will offer outdoor sporting facilities complemented by a separate sports complex with sports hall, fitness suite, drama studio, changing rooms and classrooms facilities.

The facility will cater for up to 1,250 pupils. Construction of the facility is likely to be complete by September 2013. Architectural practice Mace and the local architectural company Roberts Limbrick also provided services for the project
