Designed and constructed by Marcelo Alvarenga Architect, the store is located in Lourdes district in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
A two-story house featuring a white concrete ledge was converted into a store to showcase Coven’s garments. Inspired by the garment design, the ledge provided a base for the construction of a metallic mesh displaying a layer of brickwork.
The facade has a grid designed in sync with woven thread used for knitwear. The grid superimposes the colorful walls of the store. The entire interior of the house was remodeled to showcase the products.
The old woodwork staircase remained, while the walls around it were embellished with mirrors. Glazed pergola integrated in the ground floor filters natural light that enters the store.
Artists Susana Bastos and Ana Vaz were also enrolled to create a permanent vine installation in the ground floor. This installation was created from threads and leftovers of the materials used to make the garments.
