Expanding the 34,715 square feet of space of the existing facility, expansion project will add 11,456 square feet of space to allow more efficient triage, enhanced patient waiting areas, and additional space for current technology.

In addition, the expansion will also add 18 treatment bays to the existing 47 and house a dedicated CT scanner and mini-laboratory within the department.

The hospital’s emergency care center first opened in 2001 to accommodate nearly 60,000 patients per year. However, volumes of the facility have continued to rise over the past five years. In 2012, the facility provided care services for more than 85,000 patients.

The expansion project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2014.
