The renovation team for the scheme consist of SMRT architects and engineers, AlliedCook Construction and AECOM Ellerbe Becket. Work involves increasing the floor area of the centre by 45,213 square feet and improving the entrances, concourse, restrooms and other parts of the facility.
The renovation is likely to boost the seating capacity of the centre by more than 240 seats. The project will also add two luxury suites to the civic centre. The other work at the civic centre involves upgrading the concessions and improving the heating, air conditioning, ventilation and other mechanical systems.
The project also involves improvement to the landscaped areas around the centre. Exterior work at the centre involves improvement to the three street entrances and reconfiguration of the loading bay on Center Street.
The work is scheduled to get underway in August 2012 and will be staged in multiple phases. The entire project is scheduled to complete by October 2013. The project is likely to entail a cost of $33 million.
