The focus of British designer Rabih Hage’s designs is on the use of leftover material and its reuse. He treats the off-cuts and discarded planks used in the building of furniture as a “noble material”, and reuse them in new luxurious furniture pieces.
Rabih was always fascinated by unused material or discarded cuts of stone, wood or metal. He found DuPont’ Corian luxurious, with slight imperfection in patinated antique pieces. Rabih chose to work with Corian as the patina of time is something impossible to imitate, and therefore, authentic. He calls it Leftover collection which includes “Leftover Table” desk or dining table, “Colour Console” bookshelf, “Colour Chair” desk chair, and “Leftover Armchair” visitors’ chair.
The Runon collection by TAO Esterno includes an outdoor chaise lounge and the low table/pouf. Both the products are created from continuous limitless lines thanks to DuPont Corian’ high-tech surface structural qualities. The new colours of DuPont Corian used by TAO Esterno for these designs are: Light Ash, Deep Gray, Elegant Gray, Ethereal Azur, Beryl Blue and Chic Aubergine.
The chaise lounge and table have been designed as a soft limitless continuous line in DuPont Corian, expressing softness and functionality. Replicating the seat’s supporting structure, the new colours of DuPont Corian were used to obtain, both rigid and seemingly soft flowing shapes.
These designs are being exhibited at Stand K140. They were earlier showcased at Paris Design Week.
