1 – 63rd Salone del Mobile. Milano

Rho Fiera Milano, Italy

The 63rd Salone del Mobile will feature a major project called Mother, by Robert Wilson, in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan / Culture, at the Museo Pietà Rondanini – Castello Sforzesco. It’s a dedication to Michelangelo's masterpiece, recognised along with Leonardo's Last Supper, as the most iconic work of art in Milan, with the Salone’s theme paying wider tribute to art, the city, and light. www.salonemilano.it

2 – Ithell Colquhoun

Debuting at Tate St Ives before travelling to London's Tate Britain, this landmark exhibition will be the largest of Colquhoun’s work ever staged. It features more than 170 artworks and pieces of archival material from ’one of the most radical artists of her generation’, including painting, drawing and writing, many of which have never been exhibited publicly. www.tate.org.uk

The curated two-day trade fair, aimed at the British architecture and design community, returns with its stellar line-up of talks and latest product innovations in surface solutions, lighting technology, as well as interior and exterior fixtures and fittings, showcased by a selection of leading architectural suppliers. 4 – Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style

Celebrating our enduring love of water, this exhibition will dive into design’s role in shaping our relationship with swimming over the past 100 years, both in the water and beside it. Visitors will discover the full spectrum of the design of swimming, from sports performance to fashion and architecture. It takes place across three sections that reflect the three locations in which we swim: the pool, the lido and nature. www.designmuseum.org  

5 – Astonishing Things: The Drawings of Victor Hugo

This comprehensive survey of politician, author and artist Victor Hugo’s rarely seen works on paper features around 70 artworks from important European collections. It will follow his preoccupation with drawing, from his early caricatures and travel drawings to his dramatic landscapes and experiments with abstraction. www.royalacademy.org.uk
