The Phase II forms part of the £180 million ($281.80 million) mixed-use regeneration of Rathbone Market, which ECf will deliver in collaboration with London Borough of Newham.

Designed by UK-based CZWG architects, the phase II of the development will be marked by striking design which will be in sync with the aesthetically pleasing architecture of phase I. The project upon completion will establish Canning Town as a vibrant, dynamic and fast growing centre in east London.

Work on the phase II involves development of two new public squares, of which one will be the centrepiece of the finished Rathbone Market scheme and will feature stalls and purpose-built storage space for traders.

The phase II also involves development of 165 new homes, including 42 affordable units; a new 10,000 square feet public library and community centre and 12,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. Construction on the scheme is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2013.

The joint venture consists of Muse Developments, Legal & General Property and the Homes & Communities Agency.
