Bizarro roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, which has been ranked as one of the scariest rides anywhere, has got Exbars from Elation Architectural, the architectural lighting division of Elation Professional, to re-theme the coaster which was formerly known as Medusa.

Elation’s Elar Exbar BL RGB LED bars are used to create an eye-popping display for the ride. Some 70 strobing, RGB color-changing Exbars were installed in a series of five loops. Along with the visual “thrills” from the lighting, passengers experience more “chills”, literally, in the loops from being cooled down by new misting machines that were also installed as part of the upgrade.

The combination of color-changing LED lighting and mist machines provides a unique experience, and when riders go through the loops, the bends and dives come as a surprise as they can’t even see where they are going because the mist and light obscure everything.

Fourteen Exbars are installed in each of the five loops, bringing the total used to 70. The Exbar is a one-meter DMX-compatible RGB-mixing bar that contains 240x10mm LEDs. Weighing just 10 pounds, it comes in rugged die-cast aluminum housing and is rated at IP44 for outdoor use.

Along with providing strength and moisture-protection, Exbar’s intense brightness, RGB color-changing, and features such as strobing and 0-100% dimming, create the perfect visual effects to ramp up the thrills on the revamped Bizarro.

Owned by the Six Flags brand of amusement parks, Great Adventure is known for roller coasters such as Nitro, Superman: Ultimate Flight, Bizarro, Batman: The Ride, Great American Scream Machine, and Rolling Thunder.
