Cook joined with Elkay as a consultant in 1993 and within a short period rose to the position of vice president of Finance for Medallion Cabinetry. In 1999, Cook was promoted as its and in 2006 he took over as president of the cabinet division.
He served as a director on the board for the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association and was the chairman of their committee on environmental stewardship.
In a media statement, Cook said he decided to step aside because he felt it was the right time to move on to the next phase of his life and career. The challenges we have faced, the successes we have earned and the fun that we had building the Elkay Cabinet Division have been the most rewarding of all, he said.
As the fourth largest cabinetry manufacturer in the United States, Elkay makes wood cabinetry products primarily for residential use in 10 facilities. The 89-year old firm headquartered in Illinois makes residential kitchen and bath cabinetry and accessories, commercial and residential plumbing products, including stainless steel sinks, faucets and water coolers.
