The airport, which spans over 1,568 acres, has a single runway of 8,900 feet. The existing apron can accommodate two aircraft at the same time, and the terminal building can accommodate 200 passengers.
The expansion project is designed to add an additional 1,500 feet runway along with an expanded apron to make room for five aircraft at one time. The new integrated terminal building under the plan is designed to accommodate 500 domestic and 200 international passengers. The construction of the terminal building is already begun.
A new parking space to accommodate 600 vehicles will also be constructed as part of the project. The project will also install an online baggage inspection system, with six layers of checking. The entire project is slated to reach completion by late 2010.
