The total estimated amount for the renovation of the airport is $675,000. Almost all the money was provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the state.

The largest single project involved resurfacing the airport’s four aprons at a cost of $400,000. The project included patching, crack sealing and resurfacing of an area that is more than 140,000 square feet. Except for asphalt stripping, all the work has now been completed.

An 800 feet taxi lane built to give aircraft access to a new hangar for the St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Control operations is complete. It will also give access to five additional hangars not yet in use.

Other projects completed include a new vehicle parking lot and an airfield obstruction survey, which was mandated by the FAA to ensure safe heights of trees and towers on and around the airport.

The improvements follow a separate project where the airport’s entire runway was resurfaced at a cost of $707,000, paid entirely by the federal government.
