Framework 2.0 is the latest evolution in a system of office furniture, which is known for its flexibility and eco-sustainability. This is an outcome of a workshop on “industrial campus” by Fantoni.
Students from Milan’s Politecnico University along with Fantoni’s design and technology leaders worked on a new concept of shapes and colours, working towards virtual and finally, real construction. They created an innovative module built into the desk top, which makes it easier to organise both individual workstations, using open compartments that can be equipped with plexiglas boxes, and collective spaces, creating subdivisions and corridors.
The in-built module mainly features single or twin versions with the height designed to allow communication between employees, while giving the required distance. The open compartments are fitted with special key-and-slot doors, suitable to store documents, magazines, correspondence or other small items. There are removable plexiglas box inside that can be used to transport personal effects and working materials.
The desks have built-in modules which are placed side by side in dual compositions and completed with divider screens. There is a 360-cm “extralong” version of the desk which can be combined with drawer units that double as support for the top itself. It also features a range of containers, from drawer units to wheeled cabinets, which divides the work space.
This collection includes a supporting drawer unit with a slim cushion on its top, and offers an informal seat. There are shaped tables in 90° and 120° versions, with composition options, combined with tubular stands and supporting drawer units, suitable for the creation of multiple workstations. The panels are made of 100% recycled chipboard, that is less virgin wood with a smaller environmental impact.
The project of Framework 2.0 makes desks with a tubular metal frame which has both ergonomical and ecological impact. The desks are available in tubular metal frame with adjustable height, in line with the new European standard UNI EN 527/1. Fantoni has used 98% recyclable materials and has secured the GREEN QUALITY mark. The metal components are also epoxy powder coated, a technique that does not release solvents into the atmosphere.
