Designed as a purpose-built fan shaped ‘super theatre’, the arena can accommodate 13,500 spectators. It features a distinct external honeycomb design that can change appearance through an ever changing kaleidoscope of coloured lights.

To provide a unique concert-going experience to guests and artists alike, seats have been placed facing the performance area. This design puts the spectators much closer to the stage than other traditional bowl venues. To provide a world-class theatre experience, the arena is also equipped with upscale amenities.

The arena has been constructed by UK-based BAM Construction (North East). Following an internal fit out, the arena will open in the summer of 2013 with a concert by American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bruce Springsteen.
