EDINBURGH RESTAURANT Vittoria has been something of a Leith Walk institution, known for its authentic Italian dining and family-run warmth. When the Vittoria Group wanted to refresh the interiors of both Vittoria on the Walk and its sister site, Vittoria on the Bridge, it appointed Edinburgh-based interior architecture and branding studio Significant Other to lead the design. The brief was to reimagine the restaurants for a new generation of diners while respecting the heritage that loyal customers cherish.
Significant Other’s response aimed to strike a balance between tradition and modernity. Inside Vittoria on the Walk, earthy tones, terrazzo surfaces, and dark banquettes bring depth and comfort, while orange chairs and brass detailing add energy and refinement. Flexible seating caters equally well to intimate dinners and larger gatherings, and thoughtful use of shelving, wine displays, and greenery is intended to reinforce the brand’s warm, sociable spirit.
At Vittoria on the Bridge, Amtico Signature luxury vinyl tile was chosen to complement the new contemporary palette. Warm light timber in a French Weave laying pattern introduces a classic yet modern rhythm beneath the blue geometric walls and brass detailing. Around the bar, a mix of Modernist Lintel, Diffusion Loam and Stucco Quartz in the Victorian Star pattern from Amtico Décor creates a dynamic zoning feature and its precision-cut detailing echoes the restaurant’s layered textures and intricate mirrors.
At Vittoria on the Walk, the design continues with Bordeaux Oak in a Stripwood pattern, a choice that references traditional wood flooring while also aiming to provide a subtle sense of direction through the dining area. Checkerboard tiling in Bianca Classic Marble and Verde Classic Marble adds contrast. www.amtico.com/commercial
