The results of the planning process will be made public in 2010. The aim behind this process is to search locations for new construction which will be built at a cost of millions of dollars. This new construction will expand the clinic beyond its existing 168 acre campus.
The philosophy behind the design is to make the clinic more efficient and elegant. Near term plans include two significant buildings. The planning will also include finding sites for a new Neurological Institute along with an additional facility for cancer treatment. The size of the two new buildings is yet to be determined.
The plans will consider how to balance between the needs of patients with the desire to create a campus with welcoming outdoor spaces. The plan will also focus on how the clinic can provide adequate parking without congesting the existing spaces. The parking occupies almost one-third of the campus which can accommodate the future buildings.
