This PRS scheme adopts some of the concepts of co-living but with more spacious apartments and a community hub at the base of the building, which helps create more permeability with the surrounding areas.
The project demonstrates that buildings considered ‘boring’ or ‘undesirable’ by some can provide the space to create high quality, mixed-tenure homes. 120 one- and two-bedroom apartments have been inserted within the shell of a former office block that once housed HMRC offices.
This adaptive re-use project has transformed a tired 1970s building into much-needed homes in the heart of Liverpool, with a social focus for both residents and the wider public.
The judges said:‘A good example of an amenity rich adaptive reuse project that balances intervention with respect.’
