Integrating classical collections with spectacular scenography, sculptural elements and state-of-the-art technology, Casson Mann’s transformation of the maritime museum brings the power and drama of the sea to Paris.
Its scheme includes huge, sculptural ‘landmarks’ that lead visitors through the galleries: a ship’s hull, a cluster of shipping containers and a giant wave animated by projections. The result is an immersive and unforgettable museum, suitable for a 21st century audience.
The judges said: ‘Strong design using bold sculptural forms to achieve drama. A clear an immersive experience.’
