Flexible, sustainable, and all natural materials; Tejo is a recyclable modular sofa system which helps preserve Portugal’s cork forests and marks a major step towards the circular economy. Made by recycling cork waste from the production of wine stoppers, its design combines soft contours, tactile surfaces, and clear aesthetics, resulting in a beautiful, practical and environmentally conscientious seating solution for contemporary interior settings. Each base and back module replaces plywood in its construction and is crafted solely from natural, renewable, and recyclable cork material. Led by the properties of the material and the production process, Tejo represents a bold new approach to sustainable furniture design and a commitment to low-carbon, zero-waste production cycle.

The judges said: ‘A beautiful and sustainable seating solution.’
