Overlooking the iconic Angel of the North the new extra-care housing scheme is located on Waverley Road in the Harlow Green area of Gateshead.
The project offers 45, two-bed extra care apartments; as well as six, two-bed disabled-adapted bungalows. The residential units have access to a range of communal facilities such as a café, hairdresser, a lounge and a shop.
Tenants will also benefit from 24-hour care and support from Gateshead Council domiciliary care staff, and a full-time site manager and full-time domestic support.
The facility entailed an investment of £6 million ($9.38 million), of which £3 million ($4.69 million) was provided by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the remaining £3 million ($4.69 million) was provided by the Gateshead Council.
