The property, originally constructed in the first half of the 16th century, was home to the Malavolti family and was designed by architect of the Italian Renaissance Baldassare Peruzzi. It has undergone a two-year development worth about €4.5 million ($5.99 million) for conversion into a small boutique resort. The resort in red brick will incorporate the original oak beams and roof, and terracotta floors.

The facility will offer ten large guestrooms. All the bedrooms of the resort will be characterised by intricate detailing work and will imbibe classic furniture pieces in the sleeping areas, and contemporary bathrooms. Each guestroom will retain the historicity of the venue while being equipped with modern facilities.

Among various other features of the new property include an outdoor swimming pool with a pool bar and a living room, as well as the Villa Armena restaurant. The resort will also open a spa in 2013 comprising various treatment rooms and amenities.
