The Greenway park is located adjacent to wetlands and will lead to the city’s William Morgan Park and its ponds and trails. It will include seven office buildings covering an area of 4,000 square feet across 2 ¼ acres.
Special ‘green’ features will be incorporated including the layout of the land itself. Natural undulation at the site was retained rather than shaving it off, hauling and then flattening with topsoil. Pervious concrete was used for parking space because of its sustainable properties. It also helps in catching stormwater so that it can seep into the ground rather than running off and causing erosion.
The first building, under construction by Energy Advantage Homes, is designed to serve as an example of the kind of green construction to take place in Greenway Park. It features a tankless water heater and low-E windows. To achieve Federal Energy Star rating for the building, structural insulated panels were used rather than traditional framing.
