Grohe was the main sponsor of WAF. As an absolute world first, Grohe exhibited the handheld shower head Rainshower Icon, in six different colors.

Rainshower Icon features warm tones of red, orange and yellow along with cool shades of pink, purple and blue. The colored versions can be matched to any bathroom design and the user’s personality. These handheld showers are designed to customize shower experience with a spray and an EcoButton incorporated into its design.

Icon was awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ Red Dot Design Award. Only 1100 of these handheld shower heads have been produced so far. The limited edition was available for the first time exclusively at the World Architecture Festival.

WAF, the world’s largest architectural summit at its second year, was held at the Centre Convencions International Barcelona (CCIB). Hundreds of architects from 67 countries submitted their projects.

The spectrum of buildings ranged from a treetop restaurant in New Zealand to a space age high school in Los Angeles to Wimbledon Centre Court in London. The high profile international judging panel concentrates on 15 categories, which cover office buildings, private houses, hospitals or event halls for culture and sport. The winning entry receives the title World Building of the Year 2009.
