The new Wilmington Firefighters Memorial will be built at the new Empie Park Fire Station at 3403 Park Ave., in Wilmington. The memorial will be shaped like a fire helmet. The centre piece of the memorial will be a six-feet bronze statue, that will hold a steel artefact, which has been procured from the site of the collapsed World Trade Center.

The memorial will be enveloped by garden spots, which will have five restful benches, three flag poles and shaded trees. The garden will have a walkway, which will be constructed of pavers etched with personalised messages and the names of loved ones being honored or memorialised.

The perimeter of the entire facility will have seven bronze statues, which will be shaped like helmet, axe and boots. The memorial is scheduled for opening on 11 September 2013, and is expected to cost $250,000.
