The scheme involves development of nine new buildings that will offer 39 apartments, which are being specifically developed for farm-workers’ families. The residential units will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom apartments.
The amenities for the residents include a community centre, laundry rooms and a tot-lot. The scheme is likely to offer space for 108 to 123 people on rental terms. Preliminary work on the site commenced in April 2012.
The project has been funded by the Housing Authority, Surf Development Company, WNC and Associates, US Bank, Santa Barbara County and the state’s Joe Serna Farmworker Housing Grant programme.
