A development application has been lodged with the Council for provision of a new $1.75 million HealthOne building with associated parking and access. The application also proposes demolition of an existing Community Health building on hospital site.
The HealthOne building is planned to be integrated with a new ‘rural-sized’ Emergency Care Service (ECS). The proposed building would also include areas for reception, waiting rooms, communal activity space, multi-discipline consulting rooms, staff administration rooms, cleaning facilities and file and equipment storage.
The building is designed to feature a consulting area on the south side, the ECS on the north and a service ‘heart’ in the middle that would be accessible from both sides. The eastern end of the building will feature waiting and activity spaces with related physio consulting and storage spaces. The plan also incorporates a large awning roof to protect the Ambulance bay. The existing Helipad would be integrated into the facility.
The building has been designed to take advantage of solar energy for warmth in colder months and for less reliance on artificial light.
The proposed HealthOne would be built at Lot 195 of the old Gulgong Hospital. The public consultation period for the design began on 17 December 2010 and will complete on 25 January 2011.
