As a fitting end to the three day event – held at the Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay on the Singapore River – Jeff Russell, Assistant Professor of Athletic Training at Ohio University was joined on stage by Mark Rasmussen to present the award, named after the late Dr Marjorie Moore and sponsored for the first time by Harlequin Floors. “We appreciate Harlequin Floors leadership with IADMS”, says Jeff Russell.
“The students and undergraduates I’ve met have been so enthused by this,” said Mark. “And it’s you guys who are the next generation, you are going to be running IADMS in 10 or 15 years time – so this is for you.”
The award was given to Japan’s Eri Fujii, one of the next generation of Dance Scientists, for her work titled ‘The effects of ballet landing technique on the kinetics and kinematics of the lower limb during single leg landing’.
As part of Harlequin Floors’ commitment to raising health and safety standards for dancers, the UK-based company remains a major supporter of IADMS, with the annual conference providing an ideal opportunity to interact with the global dance community.
Held in countries all over the world since 1991 – from the very first event in Baltimore, USA, to Tel Aviv in Israel and London, England – the Annual Conference continues to bring together enthusiastic delegates from across the industry, all sharing the same commitment to the health and safety of dancers and performers.
