Playing an important role for the city of Louisville, the project will improve cross-river mobility and safety, and is for the Downtown Louisville Crossing and Section 4A of the East End Crossing.

The project includes a new cable-stay bridge across the Ohio River at I-65; rehabilitation of the existing I-65 Kennedy Bridge; and rehabilitation and reconfiguration of the existing I-64, I-65 and I-71 downtown interchange.

In addition to that the project also includes reconstruction and operational improvements to the downtown interchange and southern Indiana approaches. The project includes more than 60 permanent and temporary bridge structures.

The construction work on the site is expected to begin in July 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in December 2016.
