The Heesen 6500 FDHF has been designed by Van Oossanen & Associates as an innovative concept that increases the overall performance of the yacht. Tank tests conducted at the Wolfson Unit in Southampton, UK, have shown that in comparison with traditional hard chine and round bilge hulls, FDHF improves the efficiency of the vessel by around 30%.

The slim form of the hull helps in achieving a low wave profile over the entire speed range, besides improving its sea-keeping and maneuverability. This also leads to a positive impact on the cost of running the yacht, and lowers its environmental impact in terms of engine emissions.

The exterior design of the yacht by Dutch designer Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, is distinct for the way the hull has been integrated with the main deck element of the superstructure. This has been achieved by eliminating its normal overhang of the aft deck.

Frank Laupman has designed the yacht sticking with Heesen’s typical yacht designs, which sport an aggressive appearance of a racing car. Designed to accommodate 12 guests and 13 crew members, the yacht features a touch-and-go helipad forward and a semi-shaded area surrounding the swimming pool on the main deck. A vast beach club area located on the lower deck features bar, sauna and hammam. Besides a spacious transom platform, the yacht features a side balcony that opens from the hull to the port side to provide the owner and his guests with an even closer connection to the sea.

The 20th MYS was held from 22-25 September 2010 at Port Hercules, Monaco.
