The street lamp has been developed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Danish organisation Gate 21, Technical University of Denmark, municipalities as well as companies like Philips, Priess and Faktor 3.
The project is funded by the Danish Energy Research and Development Program Elforsk.
The new street lamp incorporates LED technology which is powered by solar cells and wind energy generators that have been integrated into the design. The street lamp implements a modular system under which the LED light source is powered by solar cells on the post and an integrated battery and control system.
The specific mathematic model which determines the technical dimensions such as the number of solar cells and the size of the wind generator has been developed by partners from the Technical University of Denmark.
Designed to complement Danish urban space, the street lamp exhibits a slim design with a wind generator finished in black to prevent glare from sunlight reflection. The aesthetically pleasing modular lamp is adjustable to fit with the scale and needs of various cities and the different types of urban spaces such as residential, recreational, and business areas.
Designed to be functional and versatile, the height of the lamp, the number of solar cells and the size of the wind generator can be changed to suit site-specific conditions.
