Located at a central site on Tverskaya Road, HOK combines the old and the new in designing the 250-room ‘upside-down’ hotel. Housed in a 19th century redeveloped private manor house, the building will retain two of the historic facades, along with listed rooms on the ground and first floors.

The interior of the hotel will feature a contemporary approach on a Faberge egg, a streamlined, spherical vessel cascading into the central atria similar to a waterfall. The sky lobby level of the hotel is set to give visitors, views over Red Square and the Kremlin as they check in to the hotel.

The Mandarin will also have 70,000 square feet of retail space and an underground parking for 270 cars. The hotel will feature two ballrooms, a health spa and wellness center, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and a variety of restaurants and bars.

The construction is scheduled to begin toward the end of 2009 and is slated to reach completion by 2011.
