Superyacht Rainbow represents a replica of the famous J designed by William Starling Burgess which was commissioned by Harold Vanderbuilt to defend the America’s Cup in 1934. The yacht is re-designed by Dykstra & Partners in-line with the original plans. The new design differs with the old design by incorporating an aluminium yacht with a carbon mast, boom and rigging.
Rainbow has a luxurious interior by deVosdeVries, and incorporates cutting-edge technology. The yacht’s hybrid power and propulsion system, developed by HJB in conjunction with Whisper Power, enables her to cruise silently. The yacht was built to Lloyds Register and MCA classification.
Results for World Superyacht Awards 2013 will be revealed on 4 May in Istanbul, Turkey.
