Famed as amongst the grandest hotel of the Europe, the hotel’s renovation spanned nine-months, and was designed by Idom Engineering & Architecture. The hotel boasts swanky interiors by HBA Design that feature enhanced élan and soft curves. The restoration focused on refined feminine touches and has created a sense of comfortable and abundant luxury.

The public spaces are manifested by soaring ceilings, intricate mouldings, towering marble pillars, and a polished grey and white Carrara marble floor. The walls have been done up in a sophisticated champagne colour palette, which softened the palatial surfaces. The furniture is unified with warm mocha and copper colour of the soft velvet upholstery and hand-tufted wool rugs. The passageway has silvery silk curtains; while the reception desk has padded leather walls that fill the trio of arched wall niches.

The project has given a new look to all the 107 luxurious guest rooms and 29 suites. The renovated guest accommodations are in pastel tones, which hint of the fresh tints of macaron patisseries. The décor of the rooms are accented by elegant gold furnishing.

The guestrooms have been done up in grey, lavender and sky blue hues, while chocolate colours were chosen for the suites. The guestrooms revel in the feminine spirit. The headboards are plush tufted and are framed in white painted mouldings, which trace a curvaceous outline, making them inline with the exquisite Art Nouveau detailing of the rooms.

Easo Restaurant at the hotel bathes in natural light and offers views of the Urumea River and Victoria Eugenia Theatre Square. The restaurant has been set within an octagonal dining room and serves local Basque, international and organic dishes.

The hotel’s Dry San Sebastian bar is a joint collaboration between Hotel Maria Cristina and the renowned Dry Martini Group. Dry San Sebastian’s transformation was inspired by legendary actress Bette Davis and features art that pays tribute to the renowned San Sebastian Film Festival.
