THE INTERIOR scheme for the Ibis Styles Old Tbilisi was conceived by Yerevan and Milan-based architecture and interiors practice Studio Shoo.
Set within a beautifully restored building in Old Tbilisi, the hotel preserves original architectural details such as a cast-iron spiral staircase, turquoise balconies, and stained-glass windows, while introducing contemporary design elements. Playful details define the interiors, from a striking yellow lounge seat to plant-filled vases and a two-level reception desk designed for accessibility.

Guestrooms feature bespoke carpets inspired by Georgian mosaics, sculptural wave-shaped headboards, and stained-glass windows that cast colourful light throughout the space. Many of the furnishings were crafted by Georgian artisans.
With the aim of blending the spirit of the Ibis Styles brand with the city’s cultural identity, the hotel takes inspiration from Tbilisi’s stained-glass heritage – a motif often seen in historic staircases and carved balconies.

‘Stained glass is part of Tbilisi’s visual language,’ says Shushana Khachatrian, founder of Studio Shoo. ‘It’s decorative, expressive, and full of individuality, just like the city itself.’ www.studioshoo.com
