The room is located on the 21st floor of the Bryant Park Hotel, New York, and has been designed by Jonathan Adler, an interior designer with a strong TV presence in association with experiential marketing company Larry Abel Designs.
The room features chocolate accessories and furnishings that are inspired by Adler’s signature items. The living room also features two life-sized chocolate statues of a man and a lady that are recreations of Adler’s signature pottery man and lady. Chocolate artwork is fixed on the walls and the living room features a chocolate-based full-walled mosaic.
According to the BBC, the suite features a chocolate wall with over 10,000 confectioneries and a chocolate styled dining table. It also has a chocolate chess set that includes a queen made from Godiva’s Lady Godiva Medallion confection and a king made of Godiva’s Lion of Belgium chocolate.
Erica Lapidus, director of public relations for Godiva, said: “To bring it up to the next level we partnered with Jonathan Adler. So you’ll see as you walk throughout this suite, it’s really an integration of Jonathan’s signature pieces and recreated in chocolate.”
Ms Lapidus added: “The chocolate chess set is created with our dark and white demitasse as the board and each of the chess pieces are made of our chocolates.”
Under the dining table’s glass, there is a chocolate-based mosaic that is inspired by Adler’s Bargello Collection pattern. The bedroom has a pillow that is also inspired by the same design.
The remaining parts of the suite are adorned by other edible confectionery.
A stay for two at the 2009 Godiva Decadence Suite is the grand prize of famous chocolate maker’s annual Valentine’s Day sweepstakes. The winners will be the first and only guests to stay in the three-roomed suite.
