Howard Hughes Corporation will develop the facility, dubbed Metropolitan Downtown Columbia, in a joint venture with Kettler of McLean, Virginia, and Ellicott City’s Orchard Development. The building will be located beside The Mall in Columbia. It will encompass six levels housing 380 units with one to three bedrooms.
The property will also comprise retail space spanning 14,000 square feet, swimming pool, and a fitness centre. Among its other features include a parking garage with a capacity to accommodate 675 to 750 vehicles, a pair of large courtyards, as well as a public promenade.
Site work is expected to commence by 2012 end with the property due to open by early 2014.
